Verheem decided that it was the perfect time to release the product because women were more interested than ever in sculpting their own arms and looking as great as the First Lady in their sleeveless dresses. Essentially, the Shake Weight uses inertia to work all the muscles in your arm while you simply hold it still, or attempt to. Now, there’s no question that part of Shake Weight’s popularity and sales come from the fact that the original product video showing a woman using the product has gone viral on You Tube. The video has been viewed over and over again, and many people are making much of the not so subtle sexual innuendo from the video.
But, let’s ignore all that and look at the product reviews from people who have actually purchased the Shake Weight. Of the 72 customer reviews we read on the Shake Weight for women, 42 people gave the product 4 or 5 stars (the highest two rankings) and 16 gave it just one star. Most women reported seeing a significant increase in their muscle tone in a very short period of time. We found 19 reviews of the Shake Weight for men, and of these 19 reviews a whopping 16 gave it 4 or 5 stars and two customers gave it only one star. Some of the reviewers on the men’s version were serious weight lifters who have begun to use the Shake Weight as a regular supplement to their normal lifting routines for a quick but effective workout.
Most of the customer reviews that were negative had to do with people being injured from using the product. In particular, people reported having neck pain from performing some of the exercises that require you to hold the Shake Weight over and behind your head.
