This is a very high end set of weights. It’s designed to be easy and comfortable to use. The hand grips are padded to make lifting more comfortable. It is fairly quick and easy to move the pin to adjust the amount of weight you want to lift.
PowerBlock has done a great job of creating a weight set that is incredibly durable, versatile and functional and putting it all in a design that takes up a fraction of the space that the same functionality in free weights would require. The PowerBlock set of weights now seem to be the standard that other adjustable weight sets are measured against. This is a great set of weights for your home gym if your plan is to purchase a set once and then be done with it. These weights will suit everyone except the most serious power lifter, who wants to lift hundreds of pounds at a time. This is also a great set of weights for the person who does circuit training workouts, like P90X. To keep pace with the P90X workout, you have to change weights fairly frequently, and fairly quickly. The pin mechanism on the PowerBlock weights makes this quick change fairly simple.
This is a pricey set of weights by almost anyone’s standards. It costs nearly $700. And, it weighs 184, so be certain to look for a free shipping option if you choose to buy online. However, it is a great set of weights that will suit a wide variety of lifting abilities and exercises. It’s also one of the best choices in weights for small home gyms because it takes up so little space. We do recommend that you purchase the stand for these weights, so that you don’t have to lift and adjust them from the floor. The stand sells for about $150.
